Hjemmesider der forsvinder…

By ianbearden

    Hi Ian

My KU homepage seemed to have dissapeared when I tried to access it from the lab computers at NBI. I was a bit worried that whoever runs the computer network had decided that I had filled it with too much crap and removed my account! :)

Funnily enough it works fine from home. Don’t know if this was just a fluke internet thingy or if it has something to do with the peculiarities of trying to access the site from ‘onsite’? I’ll see if I can access it next thursday – otherwise it’s not really a problem as I prefer to update my logbog from home anyway, but maybe this can help explain the other dissapearing homepages.

    Have a nice weekend everyone.

    Hej Daniel,
I don’t think you get your account removed for having too much crap. The experimental evidence I have for that claim is that I still have an account.
One thing that could happen is that the page is gone for some mysterious reason, but still is in your browser cache at home. Why this would be, I have no idea.
As for your first comment, you are right. UN*X can be a real pain in the ass because it does exactly what you tell it to do,even if that is not a very good thing to do. For this reason, one should be careful about file names and one should not expect to be mollycoddled.
